If somebody wants to work with a coach, they must make sure that it is somebody that they respect, trust and can be completely open with.
The coach must be honest, respect confidentiality and have the ability to encourage. It is essential that they have a few years experience with good references. Somebody that can hold them accountable and challenge them to achieve more than what they would on their own.
Who needs coaching?
Many people think that only struggling staff members make use of coaches. However, in my experience, I have captains of industry I am working closely with, not only because they find the extra challenge inspirational but they are seeking ways to up their game. It is also lonely at the top!
How do I coach?
I provide a comfortable, safe place which enables the executive to make themselves more vulnerable to work on limitations, play on their strengths and be stimulated with fresh ideas. All of this, whilst protecting their credibility within the organisation. It is beneficial to be able to share at this level, with somebody professional outside of their business.
